چکیده
Abstract Germination is considered as one of the most crucial steps in a plant’s lifetime. The germination Eryngium maritimum , dune species located across all European coasts, has been extensively analysed Northern populations, where it locally endangered species. However, less attention given to southern knowledge about very limited. main objective present study was analyse effect cold stratification Mediterranean and Atlantic population species, well compare potential variation seed dormancy among latitudinal gradient populations based on current literature. Seeds collected from Mallorca (Mediterranean, Spain) Asturias (Atlantic, were germinated at different temperatures periods ranging 4 20 weeks. These results merged with previous studies test latitude climatic variables germination. Although optimal incubation temperature 10 ºC, highest final percentages (up 96%) obtained both combining specific (5 ºC) constant (15–20 ºC). seeds needed longer times reach high compared seeds. Apart response, significant differences viability observed between populations. Considering data analysis, suggest that there ecological requirements, by which higher latitude, period required germinate, correlation mean annual temperature. suggests two factors, modulation relating adaptative or maternal effects viability, govern

Seed dormancy and germination of an endangered coastal plant Eryngium maritimum (Apiaceae)
Eryngium maritimum is a coastal plant of the Apiaceae family. This species is threatened in several countries where it reaches the northern limits of its distribution area. Existing populations in the Baltic Region and Scandinavia are potentially affected by the low efficiency of its generative reproduction. We studied physiological aspects of its germination and dormancy breaking requirements ...
متن کاملPhytochemical constituents and pharmacological activities of Eryngium L.(Apiaceae)
Eryngium L. is the largest and arguably the most taxonomically complex genus of the family Apiaceae. The genus has approximately 250 species throughout the world, with the center of diversity in South America. Some Eryngium species are cultivated as ornamental, vegetable, or medicinal crops for folk uses. With increasing chemical and biological investigations, Eryngium has shown its potential a...
متن کاملPhylogeography of the endangered Eryngium alpinum L. (Apiaceae) in the European Alps.
We studied the phylogeography of Eryngium alpinum by sequencing two intergenic chloroplast spacers, trnH-psbA and trnS-trnG (1322 bp). The sampling design included 36 populations and 397 individuals spanning the entire distribution range of the species, from France to Bosnia. Twenty-one haplotypes were characterized and polymorphism was observed both within and among populations. Population dif...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
